United Kingdom, Aug. 3 -- Lindsay Lohan believes she was "pigeonholed" as an actress.

The Freakier Friday star - who took a nine-year break from making movies after 2013's The Canyons - still finds it "frustrating" that she has to "fight" for grittier projects because she grew up in the public eye and was best known for teen comedies in her younger years.

Asked if she felt pigeonholed, she told The Times newspaper: "Yeah, I do. I was so thrilled to work on A Prairie Home Companion, and yet even today I have to fight for stuff that is like that, which is frustrating.
