United Kingdom, May 8 -- King Charles echoed the words of his grandfather to mark VE Day.
The 76-year-old monarch addressed the nation on the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe - which marked the end of World War II in Europe after almost six years - and referred to former Prime Minister Sir Winston Churchill in his speech but also reflected on the feelings of King George VI when he spoke at the end of the conflict in 1945.
Speaking at the Horse Guards Parade in London, he said: "We should remind ourselves of the words of our great wartime leader, Sir Winston Churchill, who said 'meeting jaw to jaw is better than war'.
"In so doing, we should also rededicate ourselves not only to the cause of freedom but to renewing global commitmen...
