United Kingdom, Feb. 14 -- James Van Der Beek's brother "didn't know it would hurt so badly" when he died.

The 48-year-old Dawson's Creek star passed away last week after a battle with stage three colorectal cancer and his sibling Jared Van Der Beek took to Instagram to share his heartbreak.
