United Kingdom, Dec. 22 -- Wendell Pierce has apologised for "not being there" for the late James Ransone.

The Generation Kill actor took his own life on Friday (19.12.25) at the age of 46 and his The Wire and Treme co-star has shared his sadness at James' passing.

He wrote on X: "Sorry I couldn't be there for you, brother. Rest in Peace James Ransone."

A host of James' previous collaborators have also paid tribute following the news.

Director Spike Lee shared a photo of them together and wrote on Instagram: "Rest In Peace To My Dear Brother, MR. JAMES RANSONE. We Rocked Together On RED HOOK SUMMER And INSIDE MAN.(sic)"

Filmmaker Larry Clark shared a photo of the actor in his 2002 movie Ken Park and simply wrote: "RIP."
