United Kingdom, May 28 -- Caleb Followill is "on the mend" but unable to travel or perform for at least eight weeks after a brutal injury.

The Kings of Leon frontman, 43, shattered his heel in what he described as a "freak accident" and revealed the news in a video posted to the band's official Instagram page, which also confirmed the cancellation of the band's upcoming UK and European shows as a result of him needing to recover.

The Grammy-winning band had been scheduled to perform across the UK and Europe throughout June and July, including appearances in Cardiff, Lancashire and headline sets at major festivals in Spain, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Croatia, Belgium and Portugal.
