United Kingdom, March 1 -- Chappell Roan dedicated her International Artist of the Year Award at the BRIT Awards with Mastercard to "sex workers and Sinead O'Connor".

The 27-year-old singer sought off competition from the likes of Sabrina Carpenter, Taylor Swift and Tyler, The Creator to scoop the coveted accolade and while she could not be there in person, she said during a pre-recorded acceptance speech that her work had been inspired by "queer joy" as she acknowledged the late 'Nothing Compares 2 U' songstress.
