United Kingdom, Sept. 22 -- Alex Kingston's dreams of adopting a baby were dashed twice when the birth mothers "took the money and ran".

The 62-year-old E.R. star has a daughter, Salome, who was born in 2001, with her second husband Florian Haertel but she's revealed the couple tried to expand their family using IVF and when that didn't work they turned to adoption but that ended with two "spectacular fails".

She told The Times newspaper: "The second marriage was a success up to a point. I think that trying to have more children through in vitro . and then we went through the adoption process twice and had two spectacular fails."
