United Kingdom, Dec. 7 -- John Mayer has paid a moving tribute to his beloved pet pooch Moose.

The 48-year-old musician's canine companion of 14 years, a black Labrador, sadly passed away on December 4.

Moose brought "pure love" and "real comfort and stability" to Mayer's life and helped "heal" his "heart".

He captioned a carousel of pictures of Moose over the years on Instagram: "We said goodbye to Moose yesterday. He came into my life when I needed pure love, and that's what he gave me for 14 years. We traded on that love, as well as something else I now realize was important: routine.
