United Kingdom, Feb. 4 -- Obsidian Entertainment has no plans to make a third The Outer Worlds game.

The studio has confirmed that a new instalment in its adventure-RPG series is not in development following the commercial underperformance of The Outer Worlds 2, which launched last year after a lengthy and troubled production.

Speaking as part of a recent Bloomberg interview, studio leadership acknowledged that expectations were not met, prompting a reassessment of where the franchise fits within Obsidian's future slate.

The news comes amid a broader period of reflection for Obsidian Entertainment, which released three major titles in 2025 alone.
