According to Jeux Video Magazine, Ubisoft's apparent remake of its 2013 action-adventure title will amplify Edward Kenway's pirate life, with more RPG-style gameplay similar to Assassin's Creed: Origins and Shadows.

The outlet claimed that the modern-day storyline may be removed entirely, with the narrative focus shifting almost exclusively to Kenway's adventures at sea.
