Kenya, May 10 -- The Kenyan government has decided to close 23 TV stations right away, including Kameme TV. They did this because these stations did not follow rules that stop them from showing ads about betting.

The stations ignored a ban that lasted 30 days and continued to show gambling ads that encouraged people to buy into these bets.

This went against the orders from the Betting Control and Licensing Board (BCLB).

The list of TV stations that are being shut down includes Kameme TV, Tohanchane TV, Favour Life TV, Wave Time, Yahweh TV, Goodwill TV, Massa TV, JCDH TV, Swahili TV, Humble Touch, Deliverance TV, Moja One, Ngumbao TV, Naivera TV, Nyumba Itu, Aviation TV, Repower, Happy TV, Jawabu TV, Maajabu TV, Madhabahu TV, Michezo TV, and Venus TV.

The BCLB has told the Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) to carry out the closures right away.

They have also asked the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to take legal action against these stations for not following the rules.

This action comes after the BCLB gave many warnings to these stations, saying they were not helping to control the betting industry and protect people who might be at risk.
