Kenya, Feb. 21 -- TECNO, a leading innovator in mobile technology, has announced a significant upgrade to its Universal Tone imaging technology, set to debut with the highly anticipated TECNO Camon 40 Series at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025 next month.

The announcement, made today, underscores TECNO's commitment to advancing inclusive smartphone photography by enhancing skin tone accuracy across diverse ethnicities.

The upgraded Universal Tone technology features an expanded multi-skin tone colour card, now boasting 372 patches-up from the 268 introduced in 2023.

This enhancement, paired with improvements to the Multi-Skin Tone Colour Restoration Engine, promises over 50% greater accuracy in capturing and representing a wide spectrum of skin tones.

TECNO aims to address longstanding challenges in mobile imaging, ensuring that users from regions such as Southeast Asia, South Asia, Africa, the Middle East, and Eastern Europe see their complexions authentically reflected in photographs.

The Camon 40 Series, which includes models such as the Camon 40, Camon 40 Pro 4G, Camon 40 Pro 5G, and Camon 40 Premier 5G, will be the first to showcase this cutting-edge technology.

Scheduled for unveiling at MWC Barcelona from March 3-6, the series is poised to set a new standard in smartphone photography.

TECNO plans to demonstrate the technology's capabilities with two tailored colour cards-one emphasising darker skin tones and another focusing on lighter tones-highlighting its versatility across the global skin tone spectrum.

In addition to its global advancements, TECNO has introduced a region-specific colour card for Saudi Arabia, developed in late 2024 with the University of Leeds (UK) and Dar Al-Hekma University (Saudi Arabia).

Featuring 186 Saudi skin tone patches, this initiative reflects TECNO's dedication to local tuning and cultural sensitivity in imaging technology.

The Camon 40 Series launch follows the success of the Camon 30 Series, unveiled at MWC 2024, and is expected to incorporate additional AI-driven features under TECNO's "Create the AI Future" theme.

While specific details about the series' hardware remain under wraps, leaks suggest robust specifications, including MediaTek processors, high-resolution cameras with optical image stabilisation, and fast-charging capabilities.

TECNO's booth at MWC 2025, located at 6B11 in Hall 6 of Fira Gran Via, will also feature other AI-powered innovations, including a new laptop-potentially from the MEGABOOK line-and smart glasses.

The company has hinted at showcasing its tri-fold PHANTOM Ultimate 2 concept phone, further solidifying its position as a forward-thinking player in the tech industry.

With this launch, TECNO continues to build on its reputation for delivering affordable yet advanced devices tailored to emerging markets.

The Camon 40 Series is expected to roll out globally following its MWC debut, with an anticipated arrival in India by May 2025. As the event approaches, all eyes will be on TECNO to see how its latest innovations reshape the landscape of mobile imaging.
