Kenya, May 7 -- Noel Naliaka Ndinyo, a prime suspect long pursued by authorities for her alleged involvement in distributing child pornographic materials, was arraigned today at the Shanzu Law Court.
The arrest marks a significant breakthrough in a high-profile investigation into online child exploitation, following a tip-off from the National Centre for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) in the United States.
The case unfolded when NCMEC identified a Snapchat account linked to Naliaka's email address as a central hub for sharing illegal content.
Acting on this critical lead, detectives from the Anti-Human Trafficking and Child Protection Unit in Mombasa initiated a carefully coordinated operation.
After weeks of surveillance, authorities apprehended Naliaka at her hideout in Nyali Sub-County, bringing an end to her alleged activities.During her court appearance, Naliaka faced multiple charges, including online child exploitation under Section 22(3)(c) of the Children's Act No. 29 of 2022.
The charges stem from her alleged role in disseminating explicit materials involving minors, an offence that carries severe penalties under Kenyan law.
Naliaka entered a not guilty plea to all counts, setting the stage for a contentious legal battle.
Prosecutors vehemently opposed granting Naliaka bail, citing the gravity of the charges and the risk of her absconding or interfering with ongoing investigations.
The court, presided over by a Shanzu magistrate, deferred the bond decision, scheduling a ruling for May 9, 2025. Until then, Naliaka remains in custody as investigators continue to unravel the extent of her alleged network.
