Kenya, May 21 -- Senate Speaker Amason Kingi has announced that there is a vacant position after Senator Gloria Orwoba, who was nominated, was expelled from her role.

According to a notice released on Wednesday, the vacancy will start on May 21.

This decision comes after the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party expelled Orwoba for serious misconduct and breaking the rules of the party.

Hassan Omar, the UDA Secretary General, said in a statement on Monday that the party's leaders agreed to this decision after recommendations from the Disciplinary Committee.

Senator Orwoba was found guilty of several wrong actions, such as making statements that hurt the party's reputation and failing to answer charges against her.

The ruling party has also decided to stop supporting her in the Senate and has nominated Consolata Wabwire Wakwabubi, who is from Kimilili in Bungoma, to take her place.

Orwoba tried to challenge her expulsion in court, but the High Court in Nairobi, led by Justice Lawrence Mugambi, said her case was not valid due to some mistakes in the process.
