Kenya, July 29 -- In a surprising turn of events that has many people in Nairobi talking, a loan shark known for his tough methods in the Eastlands area has stopped his business after one of his long-time borrowers was freed from his debts. This loan shark, who had been lending money for over ten years, was famous for using aggressive ways to collect money, making his borrowers always worried. The story began two weeks ago when a 40-year-old matatu driver named Mzee Kevo went to the loan shark's kiosk to pay off his debt.
Witnesses say that Kevo had borrowed a small amount of money five months before but couldn't pay it back because the terms were very strict. The interest on his loan grew so high that he ended up losing his television and a sofa set due to the recovery. What happened next was surprising. Instead of asking Kevo for more money or his belongings, the loan shark just looked at him for a moment, then stood up and tore Kevo's debt record in half without saying anything.
