Kenya, April 3 -- President William Ruto, along with Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, visited Kirinyaga County to launch several development projects focused on agriculture and trade enhancement.

The key initiatives included the groundbreaking of the Kagio Modern Market, a Sh310 million project designed to support 750 traders and include an ICT hub for youth innovation.

Another significant project was the launch of the Kenya Animal Genetic Resources Centre's Goat Artificial Insemination Centre, the first in East and Central Africa, aimed at improving livestock productivity.

Additionally, a last-mile connectivity project was started to provide electricity to 3,498 households, funded by international partners like AFD, EU, and EIB.

These efforts are part of broader initiatives to empower local farmers, stimulate economic growth, and enhance food security in the region.

Ruto said, "The artificial insemination for goats that we have introduced will ensure that we improve our animal breeds and enhance productivity.

"This will further the government's food security agenda and boost our farmers' earnings."
