Kenya, May 22 -- In a bold press conference today, Sporting CP manager Ruben Amorim strongly denied rumours about him resigning from his job. He said, "I will not quit. I believe in my work, and I will not change anything."
The 40-year-old coach from Portugal spoke about the growing pressure he faces due to recent mixed results in the Primeira Liga, the top football league in Portugal.
Amorim has been the manager since 2020. He showed his commitment to the club while also recognizing that his job could be in danger.
He stated, "If the board or fans think I'm not the right person for this job, I will leave the next day without asking for any money." He added firmly, "but I will NOT quit."
Amorim, who helped Sporting win their first league title in 19 years in 2021, remains hopeful that he can turn the season around.
His comments come just before an important match against their rivals, Benfica. Fans and experts are closely watching how the team will perform.
The board of Sporting CP has not yet said anything about Amorim's future, but his strong statement has received mixed reactions from supporters.
Some fans appreciate his loyalty, while others want to see a change in management.
