Kenya, March 9 -- Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, known as Riggy G, spoke to a large crowd in Kitengela on Saturday. The people welcomed him very warmly.
This event was very different from what happened at Gusii Stadium in Kisii, where ODM leader Raila Odinga faced problems during his own public meeting.
Gachagua talked to thousands of excited supporters, and the crowd cheered and clapped for him. There were no signs of shouting or problems during his speech.
The happy crowd in Kitengela showed strong support for the former Deputy President. He used this time to talk about local issues and motivate his supporters.
Rigathi was joined by several MPs and party leaders who were at a church service together.
Local people said the mood was joyful, and many praised Gachagua for connecting well with them.
"Riggy G spoke to us like he was one of us, and we listened," said James Njoroge, a trader from Kitengela who was there. "Everything was peaceful here, just togetherness."
This joyful event stood in sharp contrast to the chaos that happened in Kisii, where flying plastic chairs interrupted a kit unveiling for Shabana FC, which Raila Odinga and some governors attended.
