Kenya, May 26 -- President William Ruto shared why he is happy to have Kithure Kindiki as his deputy. While speaking in Meru on Monday, Ruto explained that Kindiki knows how the government works and understands its responsibilities.
He praised Kindiki for helping with many important government projects like roads, education, and healthcare. Ruto said that Kindiki has been very supportive not just to him but also to the Cabinet Secretaries who manage different areas.
The President emphasized that it is through dedicated people like Kindiki that the country can grow and develop.
"I want to thank you for bringing me Kithure Kindiki as my deputy. He understands roads, electricity, and the SHA program. He is a good person, and this is how we will change Kenya. He is helping me with our work in the country, and you have seen him in many places," Ruto stated.
He continued, "I am very proud to have a deputy who understands how government works. He knows what we are doing in agriculture, infrastructure, education, and health. He supports me and the other ministers to keep moving Kenya forward."
Ruto also mentioned that Kindiki recognizes that, as Deputy President, he represents not just one community, but all Kenyans.
"He is not someone who spreads anger, hate, or tribalism. He understands that the Deputy President is not just for Meru people but for all of Kenya," Ruto said.
Kindiki became the third Deputy President of the country in December 2024 after Rigathi Gachagua was removed from office. Before this, Kindiki was the Cabinet Secretary for Interior, a very important job in the government.
When he was sworn in, Ruto said he felt alone in the government and wanted Kindiki to help him share the government's work with more people.
The President believes that Kindiki is smart and has confidence in his skills. He thinks Kindiki can help improve the areas where he felt he missed out during his first two years in office.
"I need your knowledge to help me and our cabinet members to explain our projects and programs. I have felt a bit lonely in the presidency, especially when talking about what we are doing," Ruto added.
