Kenya, April 13 -- Millions of Christians across the globe marked Palm Sunday today, the start of Holy Week, in a vibrant celebration of Jesus Christ's triumphal entry into Jerusalem.
The day, rooted in biblical accounts, saw worshippers gather in churches and processions, waving palm branches and singing hymns to honour the occasion.
In Jerusalem, thousands retraced Jesus' path along the Mount of Olives, clutching palm fronds and olive branches in a colourful procession.
"It's a moment to reflect on peace and humility," said Maria Santos, a pilgrim from Brazil, as she joined the crowd.
Local authorities reported a peaceful event, with heightened security ensuring safety amid the large turnout.
Rome's St. Peter's Square buzzed with energy as Pope Francis led a Mass attended by tens of thousands. In his homily, the pontiff urged believers to embrace compassion and forgiveness, themes central to the Lenten season.
