Kenya, May 16 -- Police arrests over 300 youths in the Nairobi CBD who failed to show ID cards. Police were randomly selecting youths who did not have ID cards and locking them at the central police station.

Many young people were taken by the police in Nairobi's Central Business District (CBD) on Friday night because they could not show their identification cards during routine checks.

Witnesses say that police caught many young people in different areas of the CBD and took them to the Central Police Station for further questioning.

The authorities have not yet shared an official statement about this operation, but sources suggest that these arrests are part of a bigger effort to enforce rules about having identification.

Some people and human rights groups are worried about how the arrests were made.

They are asking for more information on whether the arrested individuals had a chance to show other forms of identification or give their personal information.

As the investigations continue, the families of those arrested are looking for information about how to help them get released.
