
Kenya, May 16 -- In a shocking incident earlier today, a convoy carrying Hon. Peter Salasya, Member of Parliament, was ambushed by multiple unidentified vehicles in a coordinated attack. The Mumias East MP, Peter Salasya was reportedly ambushed by heavily armed men who trailed him on his way from Isiolo to Nanyuki.
According to eyewitness reports, the assailants opened fire on the convoy, targeting the vehicle carrying the MP. The tyres of Hon. Salasya's car were shot, rendering the vehicle immobile.
In the ensuing chaos, Hon. Salasya's bodyguards were overpowered and disarmed. The attackers forcibly abducted the MP, fleeing the scene with him in an unknown direction. Authorities have yet to identify the perpetrators or determine their motives.
"This is a grave and unacceptable act of violence," said local police officer, who confirmed that security forces have launched an immediate investigation and manhunt.
"We are treating this as a serious threat to Hon. Salasya's life and are mobilizing all available resources to ensure his safe recovery."
The attack has sent shockwaves through the political community, with calls for swift action to secure the MP's release. Hon. Salasya's whereabouts remain unknown.
"Multiple unidentified vehicles intercepted and opened fire on our convoy. The tyres of the car carrying Hon. Salasya were shot, and the vehicle has been immobilised.
"His bodyguards have been disarmed, and Hon. Salasya has been taken by force. This is a serious threat to his life, and immediate intervention is needed. We urgently appeal for help," he he said on his X handle.
