Kenya, July 26 -- A few months ago, Peter Mwangi was standing on the edge of a tall building in Nairobi, ready to end his life. He had faced many troubles. He lost his job and fell into debt; his business failed, and his family had stopped supporting him. He felt very tired, sad, and hopeless. The noise and activity of the city below reminded him of how low he had fallen.

"I remember thinking, 'If I go away, nobody will care,'" Peter said, trying not to cry. "I had lost everything. Even my friends didn't want to talk to me anymore. It felt like there was no way out." But something surprising happened. As he was about to take a step that could end everything, a security guard saw him and rushed over to help.
