
Kenya, Feb. 7 -- Veteran media personality Leonard Mambo Mbotela has passed away.
His daughter-in-law, Anne Mbotela, confirmed the sad news to the Star newspaper. He had been sick for a while and died around 9:30 am on Friday.
Anne stated, "It is true my father-in-law has passed on."
Mbotela was married to Alice Mwikali, and they had three children: Aida, Jimmy, and George Mbotela.
He was well-known for his popular radio and TV show called Jee Huuu ni Ungwana, which aired on KBC radio and TV. This program started in 1966 and continued for about 55 years.
Before working at KBC, he worked for Kenya Weekly News and the East African Standard.
Leonard Mbotela was born in Freetown, Mombasa in 1940. He was the oldest child in his family and had seven younger siblings.
