
Kenya, July 31 -- Cynthia Otieno from Kasarani updated her WhatsApp status with the words, "It is done." Many people thought that she had finally ended her relationship with Marvin, the man who had never bought her even a packet of milk since they started dating. But the next day, Marvin surprised her by bringing lunch, flowers, airtime, and a receipt showing that he had already paid the rent. People thought it was a joke.
Even Cynthia was shocked. Later that evening, Marvin sent her KSh 1,500 just for airtime, and she fainted softly onto the sofa. "I had deleted his number," Cynthia said. "I was already looking on TikTok for ways to heal from money problems. But now. this is not the same Marvin." Their two-year relationship had been filled with love, arguments, and empty promises.
