Kenya, July 28 -- When I opened my eyes in a hospital bed in Kisii, the first thing I noticed was the shocked look on the nurse's face. "You're awake?" she said quietly, as if she couldn't believe it. I felt confused. My body felt heavy, and I couldn't remember how I got there. But I knew I had come back from something very dark and serious. My name is Peter. I am 42 years old.

Last year, my own family tried to kill me to take my land, cars, and business. I ran a successful agri-business in Kericho. It took me almost 15 years to build it from the ground up. I gave jobs to over 40 people and had just started a dairy farm. My siblings used to call me "the boss," but now I see that jealousy was growing quietly between us. It started with small problems, fights over land, cold silences during family gatherings, and my brother saying, "We should all benefit from your success."
