Kenya, July 11 -- To acquire a job in our nation, people go to great lengths. A few phoney documents. People know people who know people. However, some of us get desperate. Particularly when your mother is unable to continue taking blood pressure medication owing to your difficulties, you have been unemployed for years, rent is due, and your younger siblings are looking to you as their hope.I was that person. I was twenty-six. With a degree in hand, intelligent, determined, and driven to succeed. However, nothing was effective. I applied for more than 300 jobs. No calls. No responses. One day, a well-connected HR professional I had met at a convention sent me an email. "I'll help you get into the system; come meet me at this hotel," he offered. A position is about to become available. I understood in my heart what he meant. However, I went. He spoke to me as "sweetheart," ordered whisky, and enquired about my dreams.
