Kenya, Aug. 23 -- Until treachery arrives, marriage is lovely. The anguish was so intense for me that I felt like my heart might stop. Imagine spending eleven years with a partner, creating a house together, and then discovering one day that the person who washes your clothes has taken your place. It all started when I became aware of little alterations. James, my husband, would come home from work early to 'check if the maid had finished her tasks', not to sit with me. I dismissed it at first.

Then the neighbours started whispering: "Mama Brian, watch out. That girl is doing more than simply tidying your home. I addressed him that night. "Are you losing sight of who I am in this house, James?" My voice trembled as I asked. He simply nodded. "You know where the door is if you don't like it."
