Kenya, June 30 -- He was a pleasant, wealthy man who looked to have all the qualities I was looking for in a companion, and I met him when I was 27. He had his own company, wore pristine clothes, and spoke with the composed assurance of someone whose life was in order. We clicked right away, and a few weeks later, he was assuring me that I was "the one". I first thought I had won love at last.

He presented me to his family, always noticed the small things, and showered me with presents. I believed him when he informed everyone that I was his fiancee. But amid all the love and attention, odd things began to happen to me. I started to feel emotionally depressed, apprehensive, and exhausted all the time for no apparent reason.
