
Kenya, Aug. 25 -- Most individuals write off back discomfort as "just part of ageing". It was much more than that for me. What began as little discomfort gradually turned into excruciating, persistent pain that took away my freedom. I had trouble standing for extended periods of time and sitting comfortably, and most days it seemed like a mountain climb to just cross the room.The reliance it produced was the worst aspect. I used to take great satisfaction in my strength and ability, but my persistent back pain made me dependent on others for nearly everything. It became hard to do basic tasks like cleaning, cooking, or simply bending to pick up a fallen spoon. Despite my family's best efforts, I could tell how tired they were. I was prescribed painkillers by doctors, but they were just temporary. Even with delayed and costly physiotherapy, the pain would constantly return. Bedridden, dependent, and stripped of all dignity, I started to question if this was how I would live out the rest of my days. To read more click here.
