
Kenya, July 1 -- I once believed that I had discovered my soulmate. We had spent almost four years together. We had both pleasant and bad days. I helped her while she was unemployed, and she saw me when I had nothing. We worked together to arrange everything. discussed getting married. Even the names we would give our kids were predetermined. I really believed that nothing could ever separate us. However, I was mistaken.
Things began to shift once I was laid off from my work. She moved away. Little quarrels ended in icy stillness. Her frequent use of her phone and her lack of concern for my difficulties caught my attention. Then she abruptly departed one morning. Not a warning. No farewell. A brief statement stating that she needs time and space to come to terms with herself. Later, I learnt that she had moved in with an older, extremely affluent man.
