Kenya, May 12 -- Homa Bay Deputy Governor Joseph Oyugi Magwanga had a scary experience late Sunday night, May 11, in Kabuor Village, Kasipul constituency.

Around 9 p.m., some gunmen attacked Magwanga's official car near his house. Luckily, he was not in the car because he changed vehicles after hearing he was being followed.

His security team, who were in the official car, shot back at the attackers for a short time. Thankfully, no one was hurt.

The police are looking into what happened to find out who the attackers are and why they did this. Homa Bay is becoming a dangerous place, compared to Haiti.

Officials have not shared more details yet. Magwanga has not spoken about the incident but is reported to be safe. This attack has raised worries about the safety of leaders in the area.

The deputy governor had narrated his assassination attempt in Luo language in a video that has since gone viral.
