Kenya, March 4 -- The Global Fund has asked President William Ruto to help them raise money to fight HIV, tuberculosis (TB), and malaria.

They mentioned that over Sh300 billion has been spent in Kenya in the last 20 years to improve health care.

In a letter from Executive Director Peter Sands to Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, the Global Fund urged President Ruto to use his international influence to help with their fundraising for the Eighth Replenishment.

This request comes after Kenya played an important part in hosting a meeting in 2022 for the Seventh Replenishment, which raised a record US$15.7 billion.

The Global Fund made this request because of difficulties like a freeze on funding from USAID.

They stressed the importance of continued support to keep the health improvements in Kenya-like lower disease rates and better health systems-achieved with the investment of over Sh300 billion.

Without this support, progress against HIV, TB, and malaria could be at risk.
