
Kenya, May 26 -- My name is Mercy, and for a long time, I felt like I was born to be average. Not because I wasn't talented, not because I didn't work hard, but because no matter what I did, I remained stuck.
I started out as an intern in a big marketing agency in Nairobi. I was always the first to arrive and the last to leave. I handled the tough tasks no one else wanted. I smiled through exhaustion. I gave ideas in meetings that others later claimed as their own. Still, no recognition, no promotion, no growth.
People I trained flew past me into management positions. I stayed behind, forgotten, ignored, invisible.
