Kenya, May 12 -- Rapper and YouTuber DDG, whose real name is Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr., has accused his ex-girlfriend, actress and singer Halle Bailey, of stopping him from seeing their 15-month-old son, Halo.
DDG shared his feelings during a YouTube livestream on March 7, 2025, and in a now-deleted post on X (formerly Twitter).
This has sparked discussions about how they are working together as parents after breaking up in October 2024.
DDG, who is 27 years old, expressed his frustration, saying, "I've been fighting to see my son for months now. this is hard," and claimed he feels like he only has limited access to Halo, even saying he was "kicked out" when he tried to visit.
On March 8, 2025, he released a song called "Don't Take My Son," where he talked more about his struggles. In the song, he raps, "Don't take my son because he's all I got," and claims that Halle makes him "pay to see" Halo.
He wants to avoid going to court because he thinks it might make things messy, but he insists he wants to be a good father.
Halle, who is 25, mentioned she is taking a break from social media on March 12 because both she and Halo are sick with RSV (respiratory syncytial virus). She shared a happy selfie, showing that she seems unaffected by the situation.
Reactions on social media are mixed. Some users support DDG and understand his struggles as a father, while others accuse him of trying to make Halle look bad to gain support, especially since Halo has shown up in his streams before.
Some critics remember an incident from November 2024 when Halle spoke out against DDG for showing Halo on a livestream without her permission, but later she took back her comments.
Halle Bailey, born on March 27, 2000, in Atlanta, Georgia, first became known as part of the R&B duo Chloe x Halle with her sister, Chloe Bailey.
They were discovered after posting song covers on YouTube and signed with Beyonce's company, Parkwood Entertainment, in 2015. They released their first EP, Sugar Symphony, in 2016.
Their album, The Kids Are Alright, released in 2018, received Grammy nominations, showing their impact in music.
Halle's acting career took off when she starred as Ariel in Disney's live-action movie The Little Mermaid in 2023. Her performance was praised worldwide, even though she faced some racist backlash.
She also acted in The Color Purple (2023) and Swarm (2023), showing her range as an artist. With support from Beyonce and her beautiful voice, Halle has become an important figure in culture.
The ongoing disagreement between DDG and Halle highlights the challenges of co-parenting when both sides are in the public eye, as they deal with personal and professional pressures.
