Kenya, March 21 -- An officer attached to Kilimani Police Station was on Friday arraigned for allegedly soliciting and receiving a bribe in a case that puts the spotlight on corruption within law enforcement.
Police Constable Purity Njeri Kimani was arrested by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) detectives on 20th March 2025 after allegedly demanding Ksh 20,000 from a complainant to drop an intended charge over a traffic violation.
Investigators say she received Ksh 10,000 as part-payment through an M-Pesa Till Number before her arrest.
Kimani was presented before Milimani Anti-Corruption Magistrate Celesa Okore, where she denied the charges.
The court granted her a Ksh 20,000 cash bail, with the case set to be mentioned on 2nd April 2025.
