Kenya, March 23 -- The Kenyan national football team, known as the Harambee Stars, played against Gabon on Sunday in a World Cup qualifying match but lost 2-1.

Gabon's former Arsenal player Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored the first goal in the 16th minute. He then scored again with a penalty at the beginning of the second half.

Kenya's captain, Michael Olunga, scored one goal for the Harambee Stars, but it was not enough to win the game.

With this victory, Gabon moved to the top of Group F with 15 points, while Ivory Coast is in second place with 13 points. Kenya is currently in fourth place in Group F with six points.

This match was special because it was the first time in over six years that the Harambee Stars played in front of a home crowd in a filled stadium.

Many important people, including President William Ruto and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, were there to watch the game.

By Saturday noon, all the tickets for the match had been sold out. This happened after many Kenyans and the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) encouraged people to come and support the national team.

The FKF expressed gratitude to Kenyans for their support and urged everyone to attend and cheer for their team.

They shared a message saying, "All tickets for our FIFA World Cup Qualifier against Gabon are officially sold out! Your support is very important! Let's fill the stadium with our colours, red, black, and green, this Sunday. Come and cheer for the team-your energy can make a big difference!"
