Kenya, April 20 -- A 15-year-old boy sadly took his own life while he was in custody at Bamba Police Station. This happened just a few days after he was arrested because of a problem with his girlfriend.
According to police and people who saw what happened, the boy was taken into custody on Friday, April 18th, after his girlfriend's parents made a complaint against him.
They did not approve of their daughter's relationship with him and reported the boy to the police.
While he was in police custody, waiting for further investigation, the boy used his shirt to hang himself in his cell.
Police officers found him during their regular checks. His death has made many people in the community very sad and worried.
They are calling for better care for young people in police custody and more mental health support.
The authorities are now looking into what happened, and the boy's body is still at the police station.
