Kenya, June 2 -- Atletico Madrid star Antoine Griezmann has signed a new contract with the La Liga club, committing to stay until June 2027, the club announced today.

The French forward, affectionately known as "Griezou", turned down lucrative proposals from Major League Soccer (MLS) clubs to continue his tenure with the Rojiblancos.

Griezmann, 34, accepted a revised salary package to extend his stay at Atletico, where he has been a key figure since rejoining the club in 2021.

The new deal ends speculation about a potential move abroad, reaffirming his commitment to the Spanish side.

"Antoine's decision to stay reflects his deep connection with Atletico and our shared ambitions," said an Atletico Madrid spokesperson. The club did not disclose specific financial details of the contract.

Griezmann, a World Cup winner with France in 2018, has scored 184 goals in 389 appearances across his two spells with Atletico, cementing his status as one of the club's all-time greats.

His decision to remain in Madrid is a boost for manager Diego Simeone as the team aims to compete for domestic and European honours.
