
Kenya, Aug. 4 -- We started with nothing. I'm talking about taking matatus at 5 in the morning, sharing one plate of food, and sleeping on the floor in a small room. When he had nothing, I was there for him. I was his cheerleader, his supporter, his partner in business, his emotional caregiver, and his best friend, all at once.
I remember selling my laptop to help his car wash business grow. I took a loan from a shylock to pay his rent when he was about to be kicked out. I even lied to my mom, telling her I was fine when I hadn't eaten for two days. I did all this because I believed in his dream. In our dream.
And guess what? The business started to do well. Slowly but surely, we moved into a one-bedroom apartment. Then a two-bedroom. After that, we opened a spare parts shop. Life started to get better. We finally bought our first car, a used Nissan Note. I still remember how we danced the day we got the car papers. To read more click here.
