Kenya, July 22 -- Teso South Member of Parliament, Hon. Mary Emaase, had to stop her speech because some people at a funeral in Busia County were shouting at her.

At first, she was speaking to a calm crowd, but soon, people began to chant loudly. The video showed her giving Sh10,000 to the family that was mourning, while the crowd got louder and louder.

"Siwezi maliza kuongea kama sijaongea mambo ya National sababu mimi ni kiongozi ya national," she said.

"Kila mahali, jamii wameanza kujipanga kwa selikali ambayo inakuja. Sisi tumejipanga hatujajipanga?" she asked the quite mourners and it was calm.

"Tusipojipanga unajua tutapangua?" she asked a calm crowd, whose mood fast moved when she introduced Raila Odinga into her statements.

Assuming the crowd would accept news from the ODM leader, she counted, "Baba amepeana ushauri."

But to her amazement, this message initiated loud heckles from the mourners.

In doubt, she asked, "Hello, mmepokea salamu za Baba?" The crowd screamed back, "Aende!"

She insisted on, "Mumekataa Baba siku hizi?" The mourners replied in unison, "Eeeh!"

"Heeehe, nilikua anataka nilete salamu na pia niwaambie tujipange kwa serikali inayokuja," she finalised, as the crowd persisted to heckle and flood out her voice.

Even though she was using a microphone, it was hard to hear her over the noise.

People on the internet shared their thoughts about the situation. One person said, "This is a test. She knew what she was doing."

Another person commented, "Things are different on the ground."

A third person remembered that someone said a political leader is no longer important and that this is the truth he should hear now.

This event happens as the country is getting more politically active with the upcoming 2027 elections.

Busia, which used to be a strong area for Raila Odinga and his ODM party, now seems to be more divided.

Some people there are not happy with Raila's recent partnership with President William Ruto and his Kenya Kwanza government, feeling they have not solved important problems that regular Kenyans face.
