If there is a hallmark of the Indian market, I would suppose cutthroat competition would be it's defining factor. Given the growth of India's automotive market over the decades, and with the number of manufacturer's competing in the market, there is always one certainty, that if a new type of product or segment becomes successful, you can be sure that the other players will be lining up to compete with it. For example, the Ford EcoSport and the Renault Duster were the front runners when it came to making SUV's popular in the Indian market, but once they were established, other manufacturers like Hyundai and Maruti Suzuki came in and dominated the segment.
