ACT Policing is disappointed by the behaviour of Canberra drivers after people were caught street racing, speeding,drink and drug driving during National Road Safety Week.
More than 90 speeding fines were issued and 16 people were charged with drink driving during National Road Safety Week, which ran from 11 to 18 May 2025.
On the first day, police conducting speed enforcement on William Hovell Drive in Whitlam detected a 43-year-old man driving at 110 km/h in a 90 km/h zone.
The driver - who was travelling with his 9-year-old child in the car - tested positive to the presence of drugs and alcohol, and police checks revealed his licence was suspended.
