The applicant, Jayden Franklin, sought leave to appeal against his convictions for two offences following a trial by jury. The applicant was found guilty of one count of sexual intercourse with a child aged between 10 and 14 years contrary to s 66C(1) of the Crimes Act 1900 (NSW), and one count of possession of child abuse material contrary to s 91H(2) of the Crimes Act. The applicant also pleaded guilty to an additional offence of failing to comply with reporting conditions contrary to s 17(1) of the Child Protection (Offenders Registration) Act 2000 (NSW).
