Belconnen, ACT, July 27 -- ACT Policing issued the following media release:

ACT Policing has charged a 29 year-old man from Rivett with 11 offences after an attempted burglary and impersonating police.

At about 8:20am on Saturday 26 July police received a report of a man attempting to gain access to a residence in Rivett.

Police allege the man told the occupier of the residence he was a Detective and when the resident asked the man to produce identification he failed to do so. It is then alleged the man removed a metal hatchet from his pocket and tried to open the front door.

At about 8:40am police from Woden Police Station located the man walking away from the incident. The man resisted police and after a short foot pursuit was arreste...
