BRISBANE, Queensland, Feb. 5 -- Queensland Police Service issued the following media release:
Police are conducting high-visibility anti-looting patrols across flood affected communities in North Queensland, including Townsville and surrounding areas.
Extra police were deployed to flood zones in recent days and are conducting 24-hour patrols aimed at deterring anti-social and criminal behaviour to protect the property of flood victims.
Police are investigating reports of property damage and looting from evacuated homes over the past few days.
Since February 2, police have received three reports of looting in Ingham, Railway Estate, and Rosslea, after residents evacuated from their homes.
