CANBERRA, ACT, May 7 -- Australian Federal Police issued the following media release:

An Ethiopia-born man is set to appear before Melbourne Magistrates' Court today (7 May, 2025) charged with allegedly failing to comply with his visa-mandated conditions.

The AFP charged the man, 28, after he was located today (7 May, 2025) in Melbourne.

It will be alleged he breached the conditions of his Commonwealth visa between 2 and 19 April, 2025, by failing to abide by his curfew hours and maintain his electronic monitoring device.

The man has been charged with:

* Five counts of failing to comply with curfew, contrary to section 76C(1) of the Migration Act 1958 (Cth). This offence carries a maximum penalty of five years' imprisonment and/or a...
