Belconnen, ACT, April 15 -- ACT Policing issued the following media release:

The Canberra community is being reminded that 3D printed guns and gun parts are illegal.

An incident last week saw ACT Policing officers attend a school after being informed that a staff member had brought a 3D printed handgun to the school. The gun was not shown in a class and the teacher returned home later that day.

Police later executed a search warrant at the teacher's home, where the firearm was seized as well as the 3D printer used to make the firearm. At this time police believe this incident was a misguided effort to demonstrate the capabilities of 3D printing technology.

Enquiries relating to this matter are continuing.
