BRISBANE, Queensland, Jan. 31 -- Queensland Police Service issued the following media release:

Officers from the Weipa Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB), and Weipa and Aurukun General Duties have charged three people following an alleged assault on January 23.

It will be alleged at around 1pm, a group of five people attended a rural property on Peninsula Developmental Road at Mission River, for work purposes.

It is further alleged three people not known to them approached the group and threatened them with weapons.

Police will also allege the group was then made to dig a hole, before they were permitted to leave the area.

On January 29, police charged the three people with a total of 53 offences.
