TURA, April 12 -- In what is being described as a case of negligence, the sub post office at Dakopgre in Tura was gutted on Monday after an electrical equipment allegedly caused a short circuit.

The incident, which took place around 2 am, saw most of the equipment in the office gutted. However, timely intervention of the fire department ensured that the fire did not spread. The area was cordoned off in an effort to investigate the source of the fire, though prima facie, foul play has been ruled out.

The fire department and the MeECL have both blamed it on a short circuit. A source from the post office said that a machine meant to be switched off may have been left switched on which led to overloading of the system that led to the fire.
